The Problem:

After an amputation, recovery is not only physical but also psychological. Many amputees experience phantom limb pain, where the brain continues to feel sensations from a limb that no longer exists. Traditional treatments often rely on medication or repetitive therapy, which do little.

Pain lives in the brain, which means perception can change it. If we can trick the mind into seeing the missing limb, we can help it stop hurting.
